This, if you're wondering, is why my review's earlier section about performance includes a big goose egg regarding Nintendo Switch.

In my prerelease tests on both consoles and PC, "offline" mode worked after I booted the game at least once and attached my credentials. So I'm making zero assumptions about D2R doing better until its ladder actually ships and I can play it myself. (In the latter mode, if your character dies once, it's game over, no restarts or rushes to recover loot from your dead body.) But ladder play wasn't unlocked ahead of the game's launch, so I can't say for sure-and as a reminder, WarCraft III: Reforged still hasn't debuted its own online ladder system since launching 21 months ago. You can play D2R in three ways: "offline," "online," and "ladder." The ladder system may work the same way that it did when the original game launched in 2000, with players having their progress tracked for leaderboard purposes in either "normal" or "hardcore" modes. Activision Blizzard, simply put, doesn't seem to trust or respect how you might play its 20-year-old game, and the results are draconian and sucky.

It's already in the code and the UI.Yet the above mix of praise and complaints may be overwhelmed by one aggravating issue with D2R-an issue that could singularly tank this game for anyone who might otherwise overlook this review's entire first page: the online component. This wont go over well.queue's are long and ppl won't accept having to wait ages to just log on to play.

Thats what people spent their 40 bucks on, D2 with improved visuals, some minor QoL and unrestricted game creations/joins. What we want is improved server stability without the need of queue times and rate limits. We dont care about minor bug fixes or new features. We will continue to provide updates when available. Thank you again for all your patience as you venture your way back into Hell in Diablo II: Resurrected. Lastly, we have some significant updates coming to the game in terms of bug fixes and features, and we are looking forward to going over all of those updates with you soon. This change will also give us a better way to adjust the number of players that can jump into the game during these moments. We will also be implementing a way to rate limit games with varying times to ensure we can get higher amounts of players in during peak playing periods.

On top of that, we have another client patch that we expect to hit next week which will offer better transparency on queue times by adding time estimates alongside your placement in the queue. Once our internal load testing is complete, we will put up a PTR server with this fix to get some real-world testing before rolling out to the live game. Next week, our internal teams will begin testing a significant change by having saves occur more often on the regional end, rather than global, in hopes of alleviating some database stress.

#Diablo 2 resurrected queue times update
We wanted to provide an update on all the work the dev team has been putting in on addressing some of the database issues that we detailed in our post above a couple of weeks ago.Īs we mentioned in our last update, character saves have been occurring on the global database.
